The Victorian Government has released the results of a two week testing blitz where more than 160,000 Victorians tested for coronavirus.

A range of new measures will now be implemented to ensure the Department of Health and Human Services can continue to understand coronavirus and protect Victorians.

New rapid response teams will prevent, respond to and limit outbreaks of coronavirus. Mobile testing units will also continue to operate so they can be quickly deployed to communities that show a spike in cases.

Public health surveillance will be increased with ongoing testing of sewerage to track the virus in the community and provide early signposts of localised outbreaks.

World-leading research institutes will be working to better understand transmission, immunity and the long-term health impacts of coronavirus.
