In August 2019, the Legal and Social Issues Standing Committee of Parliament announced an inquiry into homelessness in Victoria.
18 Public hearings were conducted between August 2019 and September 2020 throughout Victoria with 432 submissions made to the inquiry Committee.
The Victorian Government acknowledges the work of Committee on this important issue and continues to work closely with the housing and homelessness sector and local agencies to deliver support programs to Victorians who need housing support. This includes more housing through the Victorian Government’s historic $5.3 billion Big Housing Build and housing and support packages through the $150 million From Homelessness to a Home program.
The Victorian Government will provide a response to the report within 6 months.
