The Fire Risk Management Unit focuses on providing safe and secure buildings for all department-owned and operated facilities in Victoria.

We also ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations and fire safety guidelines.

Our unit can help with advice about fire safety service equipment and obtaining appropriate fire safety in our facilities, as well as managing the department's Fire Risk Management Guidelines and monitoring and updating that database.

We support program staff to manage emergency and fire risk projects and manage and prepare bushfire preparedness programs.

We review essential safety measures and standard obligations for all department owned and operated properties and organise and inspect fire safety measures for buildings. We provide home fire safety information in partnership with fire authorities for residents of department-owned properties and assesses bushfire safety information for public housing tenants in bushfire areas.
