Publication of the department's information assets register is a requirement of Part II of the Freedom of Information Act 1982.

The register includes contact details to assist in obtaining access to the department's information assets.

At this time the register also includes information assets belonging to the department’s Administrative Offices:

  • Family Safety Victoria (FSV)
  • Safer Care Victoria (SCV)
  • Victorian Agency for Health Information (VAHI)

Information assets

An information asset is a discrete collection of data or information, which is recognised as valuable to the department. Information assets can include:

  • Documents and text files
  • Publications
  • Registers
  • Reports
  • Metadata
  • Web content
  • Structured and unstructured data
  • Spatial data
  • Correspondence
  • Electronic messages.

Updates to the register

The information assets register is partially populated with approximately 1100 assets currently registered. Once approved by Custodians, assets are then included in this public extract.

We will continue to review and update the register during 2018. Updates will be made periodically and published on this page.

The register is provided in Microsoft Excel format to help you filter and sort the content you are looking for.

Definitions of the content listed in the register are available in a document in the downloads section on this page.

Access to additional published and authored information assets

The Victorian Government Library Service (VGLS) website contains a large number of evaluations, reports and reviews – publically available for download as electronic documents.
