Victoria was notified of 221 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday. All were locally acquired.
There are 1,920 active cases in Victoria – 1,916 locally acquired and four overseas-acquired cases.
There are 120 COVID-19 cases in hospital in Victoria. 33 of these cases are in intensive care, with 15 cases on a ventilator.
The total number of confirmed cases in Victoria since the beginning of the pandemic is 23,641.
From 11.59 pm on Thursday 9 September, coronavirus restrictions will lift in regional Victoria (except for Greater Shepparton).
In addition, Victorians who have been residing in a NSW Local Government Border Area for at least the 14 days from Wednesday, 25 August to Wednesday, 8 September will be able to apply for a new permit exemption category to come home.

Yesterday, a record 36,716 vaccine doses were administered by Victoria’s state-commissioned services.
The total number of doses administered through these services is 2,680,174.
Victoria is now less than 300,000 doses away from delivering one million doses in five weeks.
At 11.59 pm yesterday, new Chief Health Officer directions came into place requiring residential aged-care facilities to ensure their workers are vaccinated.

More than 73,300 vaccination bookings were made yesterday.
Over the next seven days, there are more than 10,700 first-dose AstraZeneca appointments available.
All Year 11 and 12 students sitting VCE Unit 3&4 exams can book priority appointments for COVID-19 vaccination until Sunday 19 September. Booking information has been provided directly to eligible families.
Of the 221 local cases diagnosed yesterday, 98 were linked to current cases and outbreaks as of this morning. The remaining 123 cases are under investigation.

- 285 are aged between 0 and 9
- 305 are aged between 10 and 19
- 498 are aged between 20 and 29

There are currently 12,160 active primary close contacts in isolation in Victoria.
