Victoria has recorded seven new cases of coronavirus since yesterday, with the total number of cases now at 20,336.

The overall total has increased by six due to one case being reclassified.

There have been no new deaths from COVID-19 reported since yesterday. To date, 817 people have died from coronavirus in Victoria.

Six of today’s seven new cases are linked to known outbreaks and cases. One is a close contact already identified as part of the Hoppers Crossing community outbreak and was already in quarantine and one is a staff member from Estia Keilor. One is a student from East Preston Islamic College, one is a student from Croxton Special School, also linked to East Preston Islamic College through family and two are parents from East Preston Islamic College.

The remaining case is a previously positive case that is currently under investigation.

Of today’s seven new cases, there are three cases in Darebin, and single cases in Banyule, Greater Dandenong, Maribyrnong and Wyndham.

The average number of cases diagnosed in the last 14 days (10 Oct 2020 – 23 Oct 2020) for metropolitan Melbourne is 5 and regional Victoria is 0.2. The rolling daily average case number is calculated by averaging out the number of new cases over the past 14 days.

The 14-day period for the source of acquisition data ends 48 hours earlier than the 14-day period used to calculate the new case average due to the time required to fully investigate a case and assign its mode of acquisition.

The 10 mystery cases in the last 14 days (08 Oct 2020 – 21 Oct 2020) are located in the following postcodes, 3024, 3025, 3029 (2 cases), 3047, 3073, 3081, 3128, 3152 and 3173.
