Media Release
18 October 2020

Victoria has recorded two new cases of coronavirus since yesterday, with the total number of cases now at 20,315.

The overall total decreased by two due to four cases being reclassified.

There have been no new deaths from COVID-19 reported since yesterday. To date, 816 people have died from coronavirus in Victoria.

One of today’s new cases is linked to a new Hoppers Crossing community outbreak that now comprises four cases across two households. The other case is being investigated for links to known cases in Melbourne’s north metropolitan region.

Today’s two new cases are in the local government area of Hume.

There has been a recent case reported in a staff member at Kemp’s Bakery in Kilmore.

The staff member lives in metropolitan Melbourne and worked between 1 October and 11 October. They are not considered to have been infectious during that period.

Kemp’s Bakeries in both Kilmore and Wandong will be closed for cleaning and all bakery staff have been asked to get tested.

Anyone in Kilmore or Wandong should get tested if they have any symptoms, however mild. Anyone with symptoms must isolate at home until they have a negative test result and their symptoms resolve.

The Department of Health and Human Services is working with local health services to contain an outbreak of coronavirus in Shepparton. There are three cases in Shepparton, which is no change from yesterday.

There has been a tremendous response from the Shepparton community to our increased testing capacity with 1136 tests taken in the past two days in Shepparton and surrounding regions. 283 tests were taken yesterday and in total we have tested 6079 people in the Shepparton region.
