We work to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and their families. We fund and deliver a range of early intervention, statutory and support services across areas including child protection, out-of-home care, family violence and youth affairs.
The Office of Prevention and Women’s Equality (OPWE) is responsible for the delivery of the Victorian Government’s gender equality strategy, Safe and Strong, informed by the 2016 Royal Commission into Family Violence. The majority of victims of family violence are women.
We work to make the social housing and homelessness system work better for people. Making accommodation more affordable and accessible is not just a social good, it’s also good for the economy. It allows Victorians to participate more easily in employment and the community.
Through targeted investment in infrastructure, workforce and innovation, we are ensuring that all Victorians can get the treatment and care they need, more easily and more quickly – so that they live healthier and longer lives.
Our aim is to keep Victorians as healthy as possible and to prevent the avoidable burden of disease and injury. We want to enable all Victorians to enjoy the highest attainable standards of health, wellbeing, and participation at every age.
We are committed to creating a healthier, fairer and more inclusive society. That means the best possible mental health for everyone, particularly people who are disadvantaged and vulnerable.
We provide legislation, policy and guidelines for statewide drug and alcohol programs, helping Victorians to stay healthy and well. We fund and coordinate statewide drug and alcohol programs including early interventions, education and information, treatment and extended care services.

We are working to create a more inclusive Victoria, where people with a disability get the opportunities they deserve - while assisting families, carers and organisations to transition to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
